She isn’t going to fall for the guy who doesn’t care if the ranch is sold or succeeds, since he’ll be leaving either way. Her guard is up and she does everything she can to ignore the way Brax makes her feel. Sydney knows two things she will do anything to save Twin Springs, and she hates Braxton Harris. His father’s death makes him half-owner of a nearly bankrupt Twin Springs Ranch, and he returns to find not only his twin brother in need of help, but a woman who reminds him that the ranch is more than just bad memories. All thoughts and opinions are my own.Braxton left and never looked back – until now. *I voluntarily read and reviewed a review copy provided by the author. I’m sure other readers would enjoy a low/no steam, rural romance but I suspect this might not be the series for me. I don’t know if I needed more of something or if this is just one of those reads that wouldn’t resonate with me. The descriptions of the ranch and surrounding trails was beautiful and had me wishing for a sunrise hike so I could see dawn break over a scene like that! Let’s set those issues aside for a moment though. The butterflies in my stomach stayed silent as I read this advance, retreat, pivot, advance tango that these two embarked on. Ultimately, I didn’t feel the draw between Sydney and Braxton. He has his faults, but he is a sweet, kind of awkward beta that is muddling his way through. I have a ton of “maybe ifs” for things that could have drawn me in more but as it stands, I don’t think she deserves Braxton. Her background and poor relationship didn’t justify how she handled her attraction to Braxton and her treatment of him. Sydney…Īs I write this review, I’m beginning to realize I didn’t like Sydney very much. His complicated past with his late father and the ranch played with my heartstrings. I have no idea if this is a Montana “city” sort or if its a New York City type thing. In this case, Braxton is almost a former cowboy in that he has spent a significant amount of time in the city. I don’t read many rural, equestrian, cowboy-esque romances.
